Jamal Bonner!

Expect new poems from Jamal once a week for three weeks!

To the.. (2013)

To the fifteen year old rape victim who won't be seen off to her sweet sixteen because the dumpster is her resting ground, my sympathy towards you,

And To the, sixteen year old who watches her mother push her limits on, how many more pills can I hold, liquor and coke can I control before I overdose, my, not so frozen soul to you,

To the seventeen year old who, no longer knows who she is or will become, because with no fatherly guidance was instilled and Jim joe bob and will is who she'll console to, my, not so cold heart to you

To the eighteen year old whose love of her life was plotting on penetrating, inseminating, leaving before the birth of baby not so like you, or, more like you than I can handle, may peace be with you,

To baby what's his name of some age or another, who wants to be everything he sees on tv there is a world beyond the medias screen and fan screams, I promise you that,

To the counselor of the boy, I want to be just like you when I grow up, give him something worth growing up to, something worth manning up to, a fight worth standing up to show him how a real man should do,

To school teacher in it all for the salary, and would rather or not waste her time teaching youth who, just, won't, get it, you helped create them, you helped mold a generation who are more concerned with the"gold all in my chain, gold all in my ring, gold all in my watch don't believe me just watch" how it all dwindles,

To the school systems who think black history should be taken from literature because it's demeaning, explain to me how that is, not telling a race about their past because the information will cause mass hesteria, it's like taking Sex Ed from a virgin because learning how to use a condom, might get them pregnant,

To our government who funds this land of the wealthy , home of the slave , I have no words for you , between the dropping of our beloved drugs, in inner city homes to the would not be thugs, school systems with systems that haven't been configured right , lies in every day literature and shutting down of job sites, gentrification designed to kill off generation by generation, I lost faith in you a long time ago, by your people for your people , and well, my people struggle to escape a box that we can barely even see through. ~

Rancis Reyes

So much more than just a cute face, Rancis Reye caught the eye of The Brew with her bald head and adorable smile.

When asked who she was, Rancis told me her name but went on to say "I might be known for modeling but have a lot of things up my sleeve!"
Growing up, Rancis had braces but it was really on and poppin' when the braces were removed and hair was "chopped" off. "I feel like I freed myself from opinions, and dared myself to be what I have the potential in becoming."
She's only been modeling for a couple of years but realizing how comfortable she is in front of the camera made her focus more on modeling.
When asked what made her stand out, Rancis said her personality.

Don't expect to find many of the things she wears, Rancis says she's a proud thriftier and according to her, it's become a problem. She prides herself in getting things done her way.

Her advice to others who are interested in modeling; "Stay focused on where exactly you want to be. Do not settle for less, because before you know it that's what you'll be known for. Stay healthy and positive, never let the procrastinator in you kick in because I know we all tend to have one."

Like most, Rancis' celebrity crushes are Michael Ealy and Common. But can you blame her?

Negative people is what she hates the most.Well, not the people but just the negative vibe.

To explain her "Amber Rose" hair, Rancis says she started with a mohawk and while being impulsive, decided to cut it all off. "I believe it was a hot day."
One thing you'd never guess about her is that she's afraid of the the dark. But don't judge her.

(I really hope to see more of Rancis and if I do, The Brew will be all over it.)

Shout out to Rancis!

Look out for model, Rancis Reyes. She's not only gorgeous but she writes poetry.

Here's the first poem she ever wrote. It's a little emotional but isn't that what the people want?

The Figure
I never had a male figure, a figure to look up to.
I have father but he ain't the one to look up to.
He sleeps around leading that one person to sleep with me again,
with that my comprehension grew to level ten.
Are you proud of me Dad?
I mean this is what you showed me, what I never had.
Daddy smacks them down, so I let that one smack me down.
Talk to me with hits, I mean its legit.
I take it.
They do it for a reason right?
Gotta please the men so I take it light!
Why even bother fighting though, I mean what fight?
I put my high shorts and my crop top when it hits that season
then get choked on,
God please stop me from breathing.
I wish I were dreaming! I like dreams they're escapes,
but this.. this is my nightmare that tapes my eyes shut so I can not escape.
I try to rip them off but then he shoves it in.
There goes my heart, let the pain begin.
What do I have just a face that's always so dull and sad?
When will I feel good, I mean others see me and say I should.
But ya'll just see beauty.
Beauty that's being taken advantage of,
can't you see through my fake smiles that I have no real love?
Because this sex feels like rape.
I feel this because I can not escape, these mental chains these brutal beatings,
I don't do anything so what is leading?
How can blood flow through my veins?
Bust open let me escape these chains!
But nah right instead
wash up for the next round ahead.
Lay there and get raped up in my own bed.
But I'm gonna take it like a big girl cause that's whats daddy raised.
I don't know how ya'll were raised but I will take this from no other.
Just from you because... your my daddy's brother. ~

Keep a look ut for her feature!

Chaos Photography

Born on an "island" and "raised by wolves", David Matthews has quite an active imagination. This imagination has brought him from drawing comics as a kid to graphic design in college and to photography today.

David, also known as Kidd Chaos, is actually from Virginia, currently in Maryland. He started doing photography about 3 years ago. His love for photography branched from his need of original pictures for graphic design. His inspiration for art is being able to get the credit for his work.
I guess in the end that's all that really matters; being able to say thats my work. One thing David says he live by is to treat people the way you'd want to be treated.

His goal is to have his pictures in Vogue and to have one of them on the cover of Vogue. David says he'd love to work with Halle Berry and his favorite photographers are Marcus Hyde and Ransom Rockwood.

Advice David would give to anyone wanting to be photographer is to study your craft in regards to cameras and lighting. As well as looking at other photographers and experimenting with trail and error.

Three words to describe David are unorganized, creative and ambitious.

He works his creative magic with his two cameras. David owns a Canon 60D as well as a Canon 5D Mark II.  He works mostly with make up artist (MUA) Brittany Rogers. But he is working on getting a team together.

David says his biggest supporters are his family and close friends Talishia and Quentin Keeno.

When asked which one of his shoots was his favorite, David had a hard time deciding. Finally he said his shoot with Hayat was his favorite because it was very creative and portrayed a lot of emotions.

One thing David says people wouldn't guess about him is that he has a twin brother. His brother is also into art and makes music.

Favorite Quote: "You can close your eyes to want you don't want to see. But you cant close your heart to what you don't want to feel." -Johnny Depp

*If you're in the Washington DC area on April 25th you can meet David as well as other artists at RAW Artists: Washington DC. It will be located at Ibiza DC starting at 8pm.*
